A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 1:26-38
"The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, "Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you." But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." but Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since i have not relations with a man?" And the angel said to her in reply, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God." Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your Word." Then the angel departed from her. The Gospel of the Lord
+Let us Pray: Come Holy Spirit, come by the means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, thy well beloved spouse. Amen
In the beautiful passage today, let us sit with Mary, our Mother. Let us enter her heart, so full of love and humility, so fully open to God's will, God's ways, God's WORD. Read this slowly, following the ways we have covered, read, meditate, pray, listen and receive...or just BE there. Pray with whatever the Lord draws you to ponder upon, for this lectio, let us just look at a very simple sentence and yet "pregnant" with meaning: "The Lord is with you."
This is key, in understanding our journey on this earth, as disciples of our Lord. Do I or do I not believe, that the Lord is with me? If I do, it changes everything! To believe that the "Lord is with me", is to believe, I am not alone. I am at all times, in His company. If I believe truly, that I am in His presence, then I live moment by moment in His company- in His Love, I'm with Him. "Love", the Person who is LOVE, is with me. After all, its all anyone of us, really wants- to be loved, right? We just want love, every single one of us. We are "hard-wired" for Infinite Love-God's Love. When we know we are loved by another, everything changes, the heart opens, and expands, it no longer "defends self" but rather "relinquishes self" ...it relinquishes all "self preservation" and is vulnerably open and forgets self utterly, and wants to receive, listen, give, love... this is Mary! "May it be done to me according to your Word.".
In each one of our lives, there are many "Annunciations", many times, the Lord turns to us, looks at us with great love and asks our "yes" as His Will is manifested to us, in the present moment. The Word of God will speak to us, in His Word and His Will- will be made known to us in the present moment. We can say "yes" if...if....we believe the Lord is with us. Wherever Jesus is, there is Love and wherever Love is, there is an expanse of the heart which enables us, to do the highest good.
Prayer; Lord, I love you, help me to walk in the awareness of Your loving presence at this moment and throughout my day-I want to live fully alive, I love you Lord Jesus. Amen
"The whole of our life, must come down to that one word, "YES". Yes to God-that is holiness. We allow God to take from us, whatever He wants and we accept whatever He gives with Joy! That is "yes" in action" (Mother Teresa)
