An excerpt from the reading from the Holy Gospel according to John 17:20-26
"Father they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me, may be in them and I am them." The Gospel of the Lord
+Let us Pray: Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy, draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love what is holy.
Let us ponder this small excerpt from today's Gospel; this beautiful prayer of our Lord to the Father, I love to listen to Jesus pray. Did you hear what Jesus said in his prayer? Draw close to Him, listen to what He says to the Father, and how He says it. He called you and I, a "gift" from the Father. Stop there. Did you hear Him? He said; "Father, they are your gift to me." You are the Father's gift to Jesus- can you believe this? Say those words out-loud again, except this time, put your name in there. How is this possible? I am a sinner-how can I be, the Father's gift to the Son? Right? Ask Jesus that question and let Him share with you. Wait for the the answer. When our Lord revealed Himself to the disciples after the Resurrection, He showed them His wounds. This is very important. His wounds identify Him. So too with us, why are we so afraid to realize them. What are your wounds? What has that to do with you being a gift to Jesus? Spend five minutes today quietly, in silence before the Crucifix. Ask Jesus these questions.
Prayer: Loving Father, hear my prayer. I am but your adopted child and you, my loving Father. Teach me my Oneness in you, Amen
