Virtue of Gratitude
EUCHARIST-THANKSGIVING: What greater gift could we have been given, than the gift of Jesus Christ, the Son of Living God, present in the Eucharist. As a missionary of Charity we used to pray a very simple prayer: May the Heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised adored and loved, at every moment, in all the tabernacles throughout the world, even until the end of time. Amen
I wanted to share something that happened over this past weekend. Sr. Bernadette and I, went to Vermont to give talks at a women's Conference. As we were walking through the airport a small child passed us and looked up at us, and then with great joy said to his mom; "mommy those are Pilgrims right?" It made me smile and then, I thought...Yes....he is right. We are 'Pilgrims.' Sojourners on the THE WAY. Pilgrims need courage, because 'nothing is chartered yet' for them. Pilgrims need creativity and resourcefulness, because they need to work with what they have, Pilgrims need Faith and Love, because the 'unchartered/the unknown' can be frightening. Pilgrims need Trust, it is because of Pilgrims that we enjoy the bounty and beauty of the United States of America. With Gratitude let us thank God for everything He has given us this past year and as Pilgrims- Disciples let us bravely receive our own particular journeys as the Gift of God, given to us.
"The Journey IS the Gift." (St. Mother Teresa)
