+Come Holy Spirit, Beloved of my soul, I adore You.
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John (Jn 15:9-17)
Jesus said to his disciples:
"As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.
"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and your joy might be complete.
This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one's life for one's friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another."
We continue here with John 15. We heard last Sunday, "Remain in me, as I remain in you." And this Sunday we hear this important theme repeated "Remain in my love." To heed this counsel, we must understand and come to know more deeply, that He remains in us. How easy it is to miss this, day after day, moment by moment, the Divine Guest dwelling in our souls! Who desires our friendship, our love, our entire good. Always with us, always loving us, always there to give us the graces we need to live in communion with Him, through difficulties and joys.
How can I remain in His love moment by moment? Have I become slack in making time for Him in my day? And if I pray each day, I can still miss His presence! How have I complicated prayer and missed the Person dwelling in my soul? Come before Him again in utter simplicity, remain in Him, remain in His love and mercy.
Prayer: I love you Jesus, my love. Grant that I may love you always, and then do with me as You will.
