An excerpt from the 1st Reading from the Acts of the Apostles 20:28-38
"Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, in which you tend the Church of God, that He acquired with his own Blood. ....savage wolves will come among you...from your own group, men will come forward perverting the Truth, to draw the disciples away after them. Be Vigilant" The Word of the Lord
+Let us Pray: Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy, draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Amen
"Who you are speaks so loudly, I can't hear a word you are saying"; Mnsgr John Hebl my parish priest, spoke those words to me, as a young adult in my 20's, and I never forgot them. He added; "witness is the most eloquent speech you will give." In this beautiful passage today, from the Acts of the Apostles we see exactly this: The Beauty, the power, the eloquence of witness. St. Paul is giving counsel to the disciples, listen to what is he is saying, what do you hear? Do you think the genuineness and authenticity of the person, has an effect on you? Does their words, their counsel, mean something to you because of who they are? They are living it. In this passage St. Paul is giving the disciples the last "ferverinos" to give them strength. Come close into the company of the disciples gathered around Paul. Be there too! Listen- There is something very tender in this dialogue, His passionate love for Jesus Christ draws you into the fervor, the ardent love of this Lover of Christ. What counsel is he giving the disciples? What is he preparing them for? What is he reminding them of? Read the full passage in your bible and search out what he is trying to convey and what is their response. The last sentence reads: "They were deeply distressed that he had said they would never see his face again." What is the Lord trying to say to me in this passage? What is He reminding me of? What is he is exhorting me to do ? What does "Love" invite me to do right now today in my life, what must be different?
Prayer: Wherever you are Lord, there is Mercy, there is Truth, draw me O Lord into your Heart. Amen
