Gospel Mark 4: 26-34
Jesus said to the crowds:
“This is how it is with the kingdom of God;
it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land
and would sleep and rise night and day
and through it all the seed would sprout and grow,
he knows not how.
Of its own accord the land yields fruit,
first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once,
for the harvest has come.”
“To what shall we compare the kingdom of God,
or what parable can we use for it?
It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground,
is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth.
But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants
and puts forth large branches,
so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.”
With many such parables
he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it.
Without parables he did not speak to them,
but to his own disciples he explained everything in private."
+Come Holy Spirit, Creator Blessed and in our souls take up your rest. Amen
In this beautiful passage, it seems our Lord is drawing our focus to something so small, a seed. We are told that the seed grows through the nights and days and then it sprouts and grows and becomes truly something of beauty- producing fruit. "What is this seed in relation to me?" we must ask ourselves. What if you allowed one Truth, one 'seed' -one WORD of God to enter and be 'planted,' rooted in your heart, what would happen to you? What if you allowed that Word to remain in you and to grow by the grace of God, through life's ups and downs, joys and sorrows, feasts and famines, trials and blessings? Let us consider this one sentence from the Prophet Isaiah: "You are precious and honored in my sight...I love you" Isaiah 43:4. Do you truly believe that your Father in heaven finds you precious? honored? cherished? and He loves you? He is gazing upon you with such tenderness and love, that if you could look into his eyes, the love in his eyes would arrest you, hold you, calm you and renew you as you have never known before- what if you were convicted of that Truth, held that Truth? What if you took that single sentence from the Word of God and chose to truly believe it, truly receive it, truly allow it to remain in you and grow in you? Who would you become? Saint________. Mother told us as young sisters, to repeat on the five fingers of our left hand: I want, I will, with the grace, of God, to be holy! I receive and allow Him to live and grow in me, if I don't push Him away, don't deny His existence in me, if I allow Him to live and be and grow in me.
"We are not the sum of our weaknesses and failures; we are the sum of the Father's love for us and our real capacity to become the image of His Son." -St. John Paul II
"Be careful of all that can block that personal contact with the Living Jesus. The devil may try to use the hurts of life, and sometimes our own mistakes to make you feel it is impossible that Jesus really loves you. This is a danger for all of us. And so sad because it is completely opposite of what Jesus is really wanting, waiting to tell you. Not only that He loves you, but even more, He longs for you. He misses you when you don't come close. He thirsts for you. He loves you always, even when you don't feel worthy. When not accepted by others, even by yourself sometimes-He is the One who always accepts you. You don't have to be different for Jesus to love you. Only believe you are precious to Him. Bring all you are suffering to His feet, only open your heart to be loved by Him as you are. He will do the rest." -St. Mother Teresa
Prayer: Jesus in my heart, I believe in your tender love for me, I love you Jesus. Amen (Mother Teresa)
